Spring Fair at Bankside!

We held our Spring Fair on Friday 27th March. There were lots of exciting activities, such as a tombola, hook a duck, penalty shoot out, face painting and much more! The Spring Fair was held in order to raise vital funds to support our school provision. We would like to thank all the staff and community that supported this event!

Our pupils in Indigo Base enjoyed their educational visits to Into University this week. The workshops provided interesting information about further study and careers, including attending university in the future. The children found these sessions informative and inspiring.

Team Building Event!

This week a group of our Year 5 children attended a team building event at the Ramgarhia Sports Centre in Chapletown. They worked well as a team and enjoyed solving the puzzles and challenges together.

West Yorkshire Playhouse Visit - Planet Omar!

Members of the West Yorkshire Play House team visited our Year 4 Pupils yesterday as part of our World Book Day events. Our pupils enjoyed a special reading from the book Planet Omar, which is soon to be a production at the West Yorkshire Play House in the Spring. Our pupils had the opportunity to ask the senior team about their roles and were very intrigued to pursue careers in the arts following the experience!

We have had a wonderful day at Bankside celebrating World Book Day! We have chosen the theme of "bedtime stories" and enjoyed coming to school in our pyjamas for the day and having a "bedtime" story with our class and teacher. A fantastic day which aims to inspire a love of reading for all of our pupils!

World Book Day 05.03.26!

We are excited about hold our World Bood Day events at Bankside Primary School! Our theme this year is enjoying a bedtime story, and we will be inviting children to wear their pyjamas to school as part of the theme. All children will enjoy an extended end of day bedtime story on Thursday. We can't wait!

Year 5 Authors!

Our Year 5 children have been working extremely hard to create their own stories based on 1001 Arabian Nights Tales. They have taken time to publish them carefully, including adding illustrations. They were delighted to visit our Reception classes and share their stories with younger children. It was a memorable experience for all!

Community Coffee Morning!

Every Wednesday, we hold our community coffee morning. This group is full of smiles and positive energy! Families gathered to cook, share food, and enjoy each other’s company. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, chat, and build strong community bonds in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We are proud of this provision that we run in partnership with Bankside Children's Centre.

Year 6 Football Tournament!

This week a group of our Year 6 pupils took part in a football tournament at Middleton Leisure Centre. We were really impressed with how they represented our school demonstrating our Bankside Best expectations!

Our Anti-Racism Ambassadors have enjoyed their first term in their new roles. We have red hi-vis vests for them to wear so that they are visible in the playground and to show our commitment to giving racism the red card!

Learning Journey Launch Week!

This week has been "Learning Journey Launch Week". We have recently reaffirmed our teaching and learning approach focusing on the process of learning and how it feels when things are tricky. We have been using the pit to demonstrate to our pupils that it is part of the process of learning to feel stuck – this is good as it means we are learning! Our approach focusses on the tools we can use to support children when they are feeling stuck and how to overcome this to master the skills or knowledge in lessons.

Wear Red to Show Racism The Red Card!

On Thursday 23.10.25, we turned Bankside Primary red! This was to show our support our school's anti-racism campaign working alongside the charity Show Racism The Red Card. As part of this day, we launched our new pupil Anti-Racism Ambassadors and they delivered a very thought provoking assembly to our KS1 and KS2 children.

Anti-Racism Ambassadors!

At Bankside, we have been proudly working with Show Racism The Red Card, to raise awareness about the harmful affects of racism and to promote our anti-racism approach at our school. As part of the project, we have trained a team of pupil anti-racism ambassadors to champion our anti-racist approach.
