Latest Learning 2024-2025!

06.12.24 - Antarctica!

This week in our classroom, we embarked on an exciting journey to the icy Antarctica! Our focus story has been: That’s not my penguin and That’s not my polar bear. The children have been learning all about fascinating Antarctic animals, specifically penguins and polar bears. Through this exploration, we aimed to spark their curiosity and creativity while enhancing their understanding of these remarkable creatures.

Through stories and activities, the children learnt about these animals.

The children engaged in hands-on sensory activities that allowed them to experience the textures and elements of the Arctic environment. They played with materials that mimic snow and ice, encouraging imaginative play and exploration. We used Ice, foam, fake snow, and even created penguin handprints.

- Creative Arts: Using a variety of colouring materials, sticky craft supplies, and glue, the children created beautiful pictures inspired by penguins and polar bears. This activity not only fostered their artistic skills but also helped them express their understanding of these animals, while using their fine motor skills.

- Penguin Hand Prints: One of the children's favourite activities was making penguin hand prints! The children used their hands to create adorable penguin art, which they proudly displayed in our classroom. This activity was a fun way to combine art with learning.

Encouraging Learning at Home:

To continue this theme at home, we encourage you to discuss these animals with your children. You might watch documentaries or read books about penguins and polar bears together. Reading stories will enhance your child’s imagination and understanding.

22.11.24 - Nursery Rhymes!

This week in the 2's we have been very busy. We have been focusing on our rhyme of the week, Twinkle Twinkle. The children have been creating star pictures and exploring the sensory provision. As part of our story dough session, we have been making star shapes in the playdough and learning the words and actions to the rhyme.

Here some children have been extremely creative and made a star-shaped ramp for their car!
